Task One

Eat Greek for health!

Mediterranean diets have long been thought to be protective against heart disease, but now it looks like they help reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) too.

In particular, the Greek diet with its high content of olive oil and cooked vegetables seems to offer the most protection, according to research at the University of Athens.

Doctors and nutritionists looked at the diets of RA patients and compared them to the diets of healthy people of a similar age and background.

People who hardly ever consumed olive oil had a two and a half times greater risk of developing RA compared to people who used large amounts of it regularly. And the more cooked veg they ate, the less their risk, as well.
